An interview with Michael Bereslavsky

Who are you, and what are you currently working on?

I’m the founder and CEO of Domain Magnate! We’re a private equity firm and we buy content and SaaS businesses, including many affiliate websites. We’re currently working on buying more businesses, managing our portfolio, optimizing conversions, and growing our team. We specialize in doing quick deals, and can often process 5 and 6 figure deals within days, and currently buy content businesses up to $1M. Feel free to contact us to get an offer.

How did you get started in affiliate marketing? What keeps you excited you about it?

I made my first affiliate sales back in 2004-2005. It was very new and exciting back then, and there were no guidelines or courses, so I had to figure it all out via trial and error!

What is one piece of advice you’d give to a newbie affiliate marketer? And what is one piece of advice they should ignore?

Ignore trendy things and don’t try to copy “gurus” or successful people with a blog. A more successful strategy for a beginner is to try a few different things until you find something that works for you, and learn to understand your skills and advantages. Then go all-in on it!

What has been your favorite mistake? A mistake that in retrospect led to a great lesson and progress in your affiliate marketing?

Not building relationships with affiliate programs in the industry early on. Going to conferences, meetings and building some relationships provides major leverage in the process!

What is one piece of software or a web service (besides Geniuslink) that allows you to be more effective as an affiliate marketer?

I’d recommend ahrefs and semrush.

How do you continue to educate yourself as an affiliate marketer? What are some of your favorite resources for learning?

Networking with other successful business owners, conferences, coaches, courses
